Movie Review - Slumdog Millionaire

The feeling after watching this movie –Slumdog Millionaire……

Slumdog Millionaire – He never gives up.

This movie was adapted from the well-known novel "Q & A", it won the Golden Globe Award for best motion picture, best director, best screenplay, best original score awards.
The movie tells of a boy from a slum in Mumbai, Jamal, who participated in the world ’s most popular puzzle show, and successfully answered all the questions, and took away a huge prize of Rs 20 million.

He was an orphan and had not received any education. He was still a waiter in a telephone service company in the previous section. But he still answered the questions that doctors, lawyers, engineers and other senior intellectuals didn’t know without hesitation. However, this made him classified as a suspect of fraud by the police, and tortured and interrogated, and repeatedly stressed. Then Jamal who was not a genius or cheating told about his life slowly and continuously, and every original answer was hidden behind a sad story.

Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees.
How did he do it?
A: He cheated
B: He's lucky
C: He's a genius
D: It's written

At the beginning of the movie, such a topic appeared. I thought it is a wonderful arrangement. The question and answer method is used to arouse the audience's motivation and curiosity, making it easier for the audience to enter the plot.In fact, this movie is subversion, subverting the stereotype that reading books must be better than having no education. And subverting the default impression that slum children must be liars.

This movie made a child who was bullied and grew up in a hostile environment since he was a child, and then miraculously answered all kinds of questions in the puzzle show. Overnight, the child became a famous spiritual hero in India.
Is it a series of fortunes, a journey of surprise, or is everything already destined? Is it already written?

Actually, it doesn't have to be a genius. Everyone thinks that the person who knows everything must be a genius or a wise man. Who would think of a young boy who has no education? In this movie, Jamal just happened to know the answers to all these questions because they were all the memories of his unbearable past. For this reason, I believe it was written. The tragic past turned out to be the key to a better future.

Therefore, we found that he didn’t have any obvious joy when answering the questions. He had to recall those memories every time he answered a question. For example: his mother was killed by religious extremists; he was almost blinded and his young girlfriend Latika was taken away; his brother drove him out with a gun and so on.

All this is said to be destined to be right, but it seems to divert Jamal's efforts a bit. In fact, Jamal is like his brother Salim said at the end: "That guy, he never gives up."

From an early age, in order to see his idol, he jumped into the dungeon bravely. Later, he met the girl, Latika. After falling in love at first sight, a center of gravity appeared in his life. He wanted to protect her and take care of her. Although he fled Mumbai, he still came back to find her. We can say that Jamal's all adventures were almost for Latika.
"If we run away, what do we need to live on?" Latika asked.
"Love," Jamal said.
Jamal just relied on love to grow all the way and keep going.

The last question asked who was the third musketeer? Maybe Latika gave Jamal the last luck, self-confidence, and strength to make him guess correctly, and achieved the most miracle moment. It was no exaggeration to say that love made him rich.

This movie taught us that fighting bravely for your own life, and never being afraid of difficulty are the key to better future. Experiencing pain is true growth.
