Movie Review - Parasite

The feeling after watching this movie – Parasite ……

This is a social issue about the life at the top and bottom of the gap between the rich and the poor. It means that the dilemma of people's inability to change the status quo in the general environment. It seems serious, but the whole movie brings some humor and helplessness in reality. At the same time, an unexpectedly out-of-control thriller and the invisible boundary hovering silently in the movie were launched, which made people laugh and made everyone’s jaw drop, and then pressed into a tight and oppressive sentiment. 

But to be honest, just looking at the title of the film, I really thought it was a science fiction horror film with mutations and aliens. Therefore, I recommend that you first understand the outline of the story before entering the plot, so that you can better understand the meaning conveyed by it.

Some people think that the process is good, but the end is not very satisfactory. Some people feel dark and heavy, and even feel that the stamina is very strong. Maybe it bloodily presents the grief of the bottom of the society that can’t be turned over, and the luxury of the top people who do not know the suffering of the poor. 

I think no one is right or wrong, and there are no absolute good or bad people because it fully expresses the excuse of each character and plot. Instead, they are inadvertently involved in life dialogue, habits, thoughts, and judgment. These reflect the relevance of each character in this position well. The story gives a huge space for reflection, and it is quite a recommended movie.

The following plots are thought as morals after my personal observation:

1. The symbol of the ladders and ramps

The story begins with a poor family living in a semi-basement. They try to connect the wireless fidelity of other people with a parasitic symbol. In any case, they must use various techniques to find the access point. Then there is the living environment, using stairs and ramps to separate the gap between the rich on the top and the poor on the bottom. The most impressive scene is that night when it rained powerfully. The rain ran down the ladders and ramps and soaked their shoes, but they can only watch it happen and keep going. In contrast, at the same time, the son of the rich family enjoyed the rain in his Indian tent and the rich couple enjoyed flirting.

2. Kindness has nothing to do with how much wealth you have

The night when the protagonist’s family was drinking and partying in the high family, there was an impressive conversation. The father said that high family was rich and kind, but the mother refuted it was kind because of being rich. This sentence may be intended to express that this high family doesn’t have to worry about life, doesn’t have to argue about little details, and doesn’t have to fight for it or be strict and rigorous, because it has wealth to be kind and simple. But I personally think that this is completely a difference in thought, because kindness is completely unrelated to the amount of wealth you have. It was easily noticed in the action adopted of the rich mother dismissing the other people. It was always tender.

3. Association between realistic class society and "effort"

Although it is impossible to fully understand the multiplicity of class society in South Korea, this movie has received a lot of response, and it must have been inscribed into the hearts of the people, reflecting the truest reality. Although many comments were written that the protagonist's family was too greedy and caused the situation to get out of control. But we can see that from the beginning, in the white mist sprinkled with disinfectant water, the father tried hard to open his eyes to imitate the appearance of the pizza box in the movie. Unfortunately, this family did a lot of effort for getting the jobs and was actually very capable, but used at the wrong place. In the ending, the father said that no plan in life, no failure in life. This sentence may quietly mean the situation under the realistic class society.

4. That huge rock meaning

The son's classmate brought a large stone, which seemed to have created a medium with the upper class. The original intention was to gather wealth for their family, but it did bring a seemingly improper way to the son, but it was very nice work. However, in the end, instead of realizing this potentially valuable treasure, the son turned it into a killing tool and then he just hit his own head. Everything was out of control, and it caused this uncontrollable ending.

★At the end of my experience, I want to say that when you have the ability to choose, don't let go of this right easily. When you can determine the story's direction, no matter what the ending, you must have the courage to bear it. Everyone's destiny is different. They have their own life issues. There is no need to put our own plight on others, or think that the happiness of others is the cause of their misfortune. Knowing contentment and having a kind heart, life goes smoothly, dreams are not only beautiful but also come true.
