★Synopsis

Avengers: Endgame is a Marvel superhero movie directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and features an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin. 

The story continues from "Avengers: Infinity War" after Thanos destroying half of the universe's creatures, and the avengers who successfully survived. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow and others must consider how to reverse the situation, and save those family and friends that they treasure.

★I also love you 3000 forever

Following Marvel ’s "Avengers: Infinity War" known as "Thanos Treasure Hunt", which last year ended without a dull moment, from the beginning to the end, and gave the fans a terribly erratic ending. "Avengers: Endgame" finally released in 2019. This series has been published since "Iron Man" in 2008, and the series is based on the main villain Thanos, which first appeared in the ending episode of the "Avengers" in 2012.

However, returning to the primary concern, as the most watched sequel in these 5 years, is it successful? Does the story have enough quality to support the title? I still have the old saying that has been mentioned since "Avengers 3": If you look at it from "a movie", it is just an "excellent" commercial movie with special effects and plots, but if you put "Avengers: Endgame" is regarded as the last work of the current "Marvel Cinematic Universe", and carries the care and love of these heroes for all audiences. It has a very important place in movie history It is absolutely impossible to make a simple judgment with a few words.

★The core theme

"Avengers: Endgame" through the quantum realm (parallel space-time) time travel capabilities, in addition to let fans relive the past and the 21 pieces of the six infinite gems in the previous works, but also take us to review all these moving moments in the past 11 years.

Personally, when I was watching Avengers: Endgame, I was no longer a movie reviewer, but regained my original intention of watching movies, and really enjoyed this as a fan. Maybe "Avengers: Endgame" this time, there is no need to spend more time describing the progress of the follow-up story, just complete this great series of chapters. Although the director has long been recognized as a very high group scheduling standard, but the overall story is still much better than the previous episode and it has a more stable plot arrangement. The Avengers are no longer just to be the horror supporting role of the "Boss" Thanos, and they all have their own ability to play. It's really not easy for a movie with countless heroes.

The main axis of the story of "Avengers: Endgame" is no longer so flat, but instead focuses deeply on the various appearances of the characters after the failure. Some people continue to save the world, some become brutal guys who specialize in killing criminals, some people try to forget it all, some people choose to exile themselves, and some people pay more attention to the rest member of the family, or cherish the not easily gained happiness. But even so, seeing the opportunity that can reverse everything appears, at thst time, they were still the heroes we knew, and they were able to step out of failure and raise weapons again to fight for the lives of the universe.

Although how to stand up again in the face of setbacks is the main subject of becoming a hero, compared to the difficult process of the previous episode against Thanos, "Avengers: Endgame" is much easier to collect gems than in the past. In this way, we can see the side of each character that is the least heroic in the heart. Just like Tony's unwillingness to lose his daughter. 

And in the face of his father, he can say things that he couldn't say before; the captain has always been concerned Agent Carter, regret that he couldn’t dance with her; the black widow from the cold-blooded spy to joining the Avengers family, and finally voluntarily sacrificed to obtain gemstones because she couldn’t bear the family's departure; even Thor experienced the grief of losing brothers, fighting to build new weapons, failing to stop the second failure of the war, and cutting off Thanos' head with indignation. The Avengers: Endgame is very unlike previous ones. It is noted superhero movie, but with a more intense, deep and has a weight of delicate emotions.

★Conclusion

On the whole, unlike the huge trailer of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame finally brings us a perfect and complete movie viewing experience. The full plot content makes the three-hour movie fleeting, even if you deduct the epic warlike scenes like the Lord of the Rings, the director deliberately chose the time travel as the theme of the story, so that the movie has a scientific and meticulous description. Instead of just the same paradox of time and space and not to mention those countless moving scenes, as Iron Man, Captain America, the ending of the two fans' favorite roles, are really sincere. I will always love them three thousand Times.

★Synopsis

Zombieland: Double Tap is an American action comedy movie, directed by Ruben Fleischer, and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin. The movie tells the story which is the first six years ago episode of "Zombieland", an intimate group of people, due to the rebellion of Little Rock, set off from the White House where they originally settled, and embarked on a road trip full of crisis. Facing evolutionary zombies that move faster and are more difficult to kill than before, they must be more united than before and use various strategies to survive in this zombieland.

★Unity is the highest law of survival

In 2009, Hollywood created a comedy movie with a zombie theme. The original style and the interesting and peaking plot, combined with the four actors who seemed to be the best partners in nature, they had the zombie movie open on a whole new path, which has a profound impact on many subsequent thriller comedy movies.

In 2019, 10 years later, in addition to the previous "Little Monsters" starring Lupita Nyong’o, these four serious and funny Oscar-level actors also reformed with the regular sequel "Zombieland: Double Tap" and brought an insanely crazy corpse adventure to the fans.

Zombieland: Double Tap has a similar story atmosphere as the previous episode. As a fan of zombie movies and Zombieland, I was very happy to see the same actors, directors and screenwriters working together after 10 years.

The sequel movie completely reproduced the original style of the original tone, and still played with zombies so crazy, and once again made a different interpretation of zombies through hilarious plots. After the first episode, Zombieland: Double Tap already focused on the four roles which were familiar of each other, through the transformation of their state of mind in these days, explored how a relationship went in depth to the long-term.

★Maintenance and change of two works

I like the story design of Zombieland: Double Tap. I may clearly felt that the new concept is newer than the first episode of Zombieland, flipping past zombie works, and achieving a perfect balance between horror and comedy. This time, Zombieland: Double Tap has greatly reduced the thriller component, and chosen a form of pure spoof comedy. The creative ingenuity and breakthrough of the main story body are not as strong as before, but the change also highlighted the production side.

On the premise of retaining the original style, try to expand the story structure, add more characters, and make different changes. I don’t want to judge the director’s choice this time, whether the two episodes were good or bad, but I am very happy to be in the same series and in the two works, they have shown their different characteristics.

★The description of the characters

Interestingly, except for Abigail Breslin, who grew up from a little girl, the appearance of the other three main characters has basically not changed in the past 10 years. I think this is also the place in Zombieland: Double Tap that through the crisis triggered by the "Little Rock" rebellion period, this road trip that had to leave the comfort zone to show why they must move on to the next stage in their lives.

Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), whose child left because of a zombie, must learn how to play the role of father. And Wichita (Emma Stone) had to overcome her exclusion from marriage because of her parents. Although the movie was not too deliberate, it was still commendable to see the description of human nature that the doomsday movies like to emphasize the most.

★Conclusion

On the whole, Zombieland: Double Tap is definitely a successful sequel. It not only maintained the original atmosphere of the story that the audience loves, but also added more character spoofing behavior and mouth laughs. And in the thriller frame of zombie movies, it successfully brought a joyful and stress-free experience to the audience.

Among them, the "Double Tap", which must be paid attention to against zombies, was used as the subtitle. In the first episode, Bill Murray, who was shot, returned as the ending clip, just like getting the actor back for a large class reunion 10 years later. The fans would enjoy this movie very much.

★Synopsis

"Hindi Medium" is an Indian comedy movie, starring Irrfan Khan. Its feature is that we can feel the criticism of social irrationality in the movie. "Dangal" and "Secret Superstar" discuss gender equality, and "PK" is a religious consciousness, and this "Hindi Medium" is similar to "3 idiots" using humor and satire to package a heavy, realistic educational issue is not only meaningful but also to make people cry and laugh.

The story tells the life of the couple Raj and Mita who are in the Indian middle class. In order to give their daughter a better education, they tried to send her daughter to a private famous school in Delhi at any cost. Sudden changes of school policies put them in even greater trouble.

★Description of the Characters combined with fit Songs and Dance

I have to say that Indian movies are really good at using montages to satisfy their desire for songs and dances, and also make the movie's introduction of characters and tandem plots smoother. From the beginning of "Hindi Medium", it was very clear that the characters and relationship between the actor and actress were established. Raj worked in the clothing industry. Although his wife, Mita, could speak English, we still can find from her friends that a former civilian will always be a civilian. So she didn’t want her daughter to receive the education they have received. It is interesting that in India, they think that English-speaking represents your class. Even if Indian-speaking people make a lot of money, they can't be promoted to the upper class. Therefore, letting their daughters go into the private famous schools that teach English has become their biggest aims.

To enter a first-rate prestigious school, you must first go to a cram school specially designed for admission. Not only do you learn all kinds of talents, but even your parents follow the training. When it seems successful, Pia has been off the list because of her parents' origin. With the last option of Delhi grammar school, Raj had to move his mind to the quota of the poor’s secure place, but step by step, told more and more lies. But through these, they found the hardships of the bottom society. The poor lived without water and rice when they ate and drank well. They usually drove to work, but the poor could only squeeze the bus even climb out of the car. There are huge gaps between the rich and the poor. Although this movie is mostly presented in a comedic way, but it is such a bloody fact. They turn education into a business. It is the most fundamental problem in this system that the teacher becomes a businessman. Just as the principal of a grammar school only wanted to recruit upper-class students, the school's reduction into a school also caused class education and uneven distribution of resources. India may have such serious class differences because in addition to the deep-seated caste system, perhaps the rigid education system is also one of the reasons.

★Conclusion

On the whole, "Hindi Medium" tells a seemingly ridiculous story in a witty way, and the overall narrative is very straightforward and entertaining. This is the magic of Indian movies. Guessing the plot will make you cry and laugh, and the movies will not forget to join all kinds of social unreasonable phenomena. The education system criticized by this movie is like the cram school announcement "Do not let your child lose at the starting point", the main purpose of this movie is to make this society where the highest grade is more important. It puts too much pressure on young children, and it is more likely to cause opposite effects during their schooling. ★Synopsis

The movie review "The Last Full Measure" is an American war history drama movie released in 2020, directed by Todd Robinson, starring Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, William Hurt, Christopher Plummer, and story adapted from the real event.

It told about the battle of Abilene in the Vietnam War in the 1960s, the airborne medic William Pitsenbarger sacrificed his life to save his robes on the battlefield, but failed to obtain the Congressional Medal of Honor for political reasons. It wasn't until many years later that investigator Scott Huffman visited the survivors of that year's battle personally because he was assigned to find out about the incident, and he won the honor.

★Justice is coming late but never too late

The Vietnam War, which has the longest duration in American history and has a huge impact on the situation during the Cold War, has always been the subject of choice for many war genres, whether it is the classic " Apocalypse Now ", " The Deer Hunter ", " Born on the Fourth of July " or " Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan " just released at the end of last year.

Although the movie is based on a real story, I still like very much the description skills of The Last Full Measure. It set Huffman, an unknown outsider, as a character to restore history, and skillfully let the audience stand on the same starting line with him.

As he looked through the war records, oral interviews, and collected information, he took us back to the Abilene battlefield with the intertwined narrative techniques of this time, and gradually made the audience who didn't know much about Huffman and Pitsenbarger because of seeing his willingness to put himself in danger only to save the lives of others, and then produce 180 degrees of change.

The " The Last Full Measure " not only allowed us to visit Pitsenbarger's parents, colleagues and veterans who had been rescued by Huffman, and to learn about his personal character and the reasons for joining the army through the perspective of people around him step by step and the real situation on the battlefield and his actions.

And also through Huffman's perspective to see these veterans who experienced the brutal battlefield, even after more than 30 years, the traumatic syndrome still exists. The United States is saddened by the lack of attention, and even the guilt of companion casualties caused by its own mistakes. The Last Full Measure clearly brings out the American history of the Vietnam War, which has been deeply hidden in the heart for many years.

★Great spirit

As the soldier asked him when he was bandaging, "Why are you here?" He responded, "Because you are here." Watching William Pitsenbarger offer his life for a stranger who had never met him 30 years ago, came to the front line to sacrifice himself to save others. The Last Full Measure, Huffman himself, as a father and husband, who knew the beauty of having a family and friends and could still bet on his career, and strive to help Pitsenbarger get the honor he deserves that is even more moving.

★Conclusion

The Last Full Measure took us to witness history through dialogue between different generations, and to return to the past that people do not want to look back to, but that really exists. At the final award ceremony of the movie, the speaker used the word "The Last Full Measure" delivered by former United States President Lincoln during the civil war and let go of his final fight in desperation. It also clicked out the core of the movie which hoped that those of us who have survived can inherit the spirit of the glorious sacrifice of the dead and make this country more free and beautiful.

On the whole, although The Last Full Measure showed the audience great heroic deeds of William Pitsenbarger, it was not just a story of one person, but it was dedicated to all the soldiers, all the retired veterans and even their friends, family who were on the battlefield at that time. Also and who knows the story, it showed as a way to thank them for their support, hard work and dedication those days. After we watched this movie, could we sincerely thank the people who have paid for our country and pay high respects to them like the end of the movie? I think this is the most important theme of The Last Full Measure.

Movie Review - A Quiet Place

★Synopsis

"A Quiet Place" is a monster movie, starring director John Krasinski and starring by his wife Emily Blunt, with the theme of doomsday survival. After the trailer was released, the plot was confusing and immediately attracted my attention.

Although it had a small format, there was no big scene, but whether its story or method caused the audience's fear to be maximized by hearing and vision. The overall depressive atmosphere was more effective than many recent high-production commercial movie.

Because the world was occupied by a group of hearing-aware monsters, the whole movie started with no sound. In addition to the fact that there was almost no dialogue between the characters, and the use of soundtrack is rare, so there were not many explanatory dialogue which is often used in movies to help the audience understand the plot. Without these unnatural bridges, only the screen and the expressions of the actors were used to promote the plot. This really tested the director's storytelling skills.

★Description of the plots

Immediately after the opening of the movie, it fully explained the story. The family was searching for supplies in the uninhabited town. Especially the scene on the bridge impressed me most. After the boy made a sound with a rocket, his parents were scared and anxious. The bewildered expression, coupled with the monsters that immediately emerged from the bush, the director simply pulled the audience into the plot by relying solely on the behavior of the characters and the previous newspaper slogan.

Even if it was still impossible to escape the "Jump Scare" that occasionally scares the audience with sudden movements or sounds, but after deducting these bridges, the overall tight atmosphere was still quite successful.

Although the fire caused by the child overturning the oil lamp while playing a board game was immediately extinguished by his father, the small sound made immediately attracted the monster, and the family could only hold their breath while listening to the low noise outside the house. We only know that it has a keen hearing but has not seen the whole picture of the monster. “A Quiet Place” used our unknowns about monsters to pile up fears and it finally exploded.

However, "A Quiet Place" is not only a fight against monsters, the family is also very important. Parents' care and responsibility for their children are very touching. Watching them continue to make sounds to help each other out, and the emotional connection of each person is more and more.

It was clear that the love of the family is more precious because the surrounding environment is so dangerous. After seeing this, we don't care about whether we will be scared or not, but whether their family can survive. Compared to "The Mist" or "The Walking Dead" mostly describes the dark side of humanity. The positive glory emitted by "A Quiet Place" from family emotions is the most precious thing.

★Those sounds

After watching the movie, I heard someone say that the sound engineer is really relaxed, but the opposite is true. The sound effect should account for the highest production cost of the movie.

Because the movie is so quiet, every small sound is even more important. How to eliminate all kinds of interference during shooting, including unnecessary sounds such as wind and human voices, and interact with the characters in the film, as well as many in the cornfield. The combination of sounds such as shuttles, wood or sand on the ground is the specialty of the mixer. The time and effort behind it is definitely not as simple as we think.

★Conclusion

Now think about it. Although there were a lot of bugs in the movie, such as why they couldn’t get near the waterfall, or where their electricity came from. But because they were very entertaining, these unreasonable ones were ignored by me immediately.

The design attracted my attention, such as not wearing shoes without patting noises, paving the road with white sand, wooden floors to avoid stepping, or wooden boxes specially designed for babies. The details showed that the director was responsible for the story. Attentively, if you really want to say that something makes me angry, it was probably why monsters don't step on that nail. As for the final open ending, it was more ingenious.

The movie stopped after the mother and daughter saw the other two monsters rushing, giving the audience more imagination, but I believe the expression of the director when the two looked at each other has already given enough answers, there was a kind of confidence and hope to face the problem.

On the whole, "A Quiet Place" set a new height for low-cost horror movies after "Get Out". The tension created by it was full of tension. Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and the two child stars performed accurately. When in place, light and eyes and body language are used to express deep-seated fears, a perfect interpretation of what "silence is better than sound", and the family element not only doesn’t defocus the movie but also among them, the responsibility of parents for their children raised the overall realm a lot. ★Synopsis

Baaghi 3 is directed by Ahmed Khan and starring Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor. Baaghi 3 is the story of a man against a terrorist organization. Ronnie (Tiger Shroff) is the younger brother of Vikram (Riteish Deshmukh).

Their father was a cop, Charan Chaturvedi (Jackie Shroff), who had died when both were young. Charan knew that Ronnie is braver out of the two and hence he made Ronnie promise that he'll take care of Vikram. When they grow up, Vikram joins the police force at Lohamandi Police Station, Agra. On his first day of joining, a goon named Bajwa sets a person on fire inside Lohamandi Police Station premises.

Bajwa's senior IPL (Jaideep Ahlawat) comes to the rescue and the cops don't press any charges. This is because IPL is a feared criminal by locals as well as the police. IPL's main business is into kidnapping the entire families but he never asks for ransom. This has always baffled the cops.

What the police doesn't know is that IPL works for Abu Jalal Gaza, the leader of Jaish-E-Lashkar, the biggest terrorist organisation of the world. They operate out of Syria and have almost taken over the country. Back in Agra, the Lohamandi Police Station gets a kidnapping complaint. Knowing that it's committed by IPL, they fear taking action.

Hence, they decide to send Vikram as scapegoat. Vikram is terrified and he asks Ronnie for help. Ronnie accompanies Vikram at IPL's factory, where the kidnapped people are held. Ronnie bashes up IPL's goons by shutting off the lights. Everyone assumes that Vikram is the one responsible for beating them and for rescuing the hostages.

He becomes an overnight hero. Vikram meanwhile gets married to Ruchi (Ankita Lokhande). Her sister is Siya (Shraddha Kapoor) and she starts dating Ronnie. Life is going good until the Ministry Of External Affairs sends Vikram to Syria. He's given the responsibility of getting IPL arrested and facilitate his extradition process. It seems like a fairly easy task. Vikram reaches there and this is when he gets abducted by Abu's men. With no other option, Ronnie now decides to go to Syria to rescue Ronnie.

★The description of the plots

The director Ahmed Khan throws in every trick in the book to make ‘Baaghi 3’ an action entertainer with elements that highlight his leading man’s brute force and deadly machismo. Tiger Shroff, who is clearly one of Bollywood’s most bankable action stars, packs quite a punch in the high-octane action scenes (directed by Ram-Laxman and Kecha Khampadkee). His perfect body and attitude make all the stylized action look real. However, he falls short in emotional scenes and comedy.

Shraddha Kapoor looks beautiful and brings in some good comic relief in the first half. But her character isn’t very crucial to the story and hence, she doesn’t have much scope to perform. Riteish Deshmukh has an important role, but his character suffers from a certain handicap, which is never explained. On one hand, he needs to be constantly protected by his younger brother but on the other, he is also recruited as a police officer despite being so vulnerable. Such inconsistency in his character graph makes it difficult to relate with him. In fact, there are quite a few such loose ends in the story that make it far less convincing.

While the Syrian setting brings in a terrifying feel, most villains are far too caricaturish to be taken seriously, barring the main villain Abu Jalal (Jameel Khoury). He looks the part and his performance is chilling. Among the other actors, Jackie Shroff, Ankita Lokhande and Vijay Varma lend good support. The dialogues by Farhad Samji are laced with low-brow humour, especially in the first half and fairly moviey in the second half.

The movie’s music is quite average but thankfully, there aren’t too many songs. Disha Patani sizzles in a scintillating item number that adds a dash of glamour to this stylish actioner. While the action design (by Ahmed Khan) is impressive, the same cannot be said for the shaky camerawork and weak CGI.

There are ample acrobatics on display, slo-mo shots, deafening explosions and lethal punches in ‘Baaghi 3’. But none of it can rise beyond a weak script that doesn’t go for the kill. Knock yourself out only if you’re a diehard Tiger Shroff fan.

★Conclusion

The movie is an out and out action entertainer with the entre focus on Tiger shroff and his action sequences. The well-choreographed action scenes are truly exciting and spectacular, a big treat for the lovers of the specific genre. Even the brother sentiments works to an extent which also gives some relief from non-stop action, proven irritating at times

However, due to flawed writing the movie suffers badly, Ronnie dealing with the local goons was acceptable, here the entire army has been confronted by someone without any professional training. Siya being a part of dangerous mission, what kind of expertise has she got to assist Ronnie? An improved writing would have helped to enhance the effects.

The feeling after watching this movie –Thappad……

★Synopsis

Thappad is directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Taapsee Pannu. From a strictly visual standpoint, Thappad is Anubhav Sinha’s prettiest movie. The murk and mist of Article 15 has been replaced by the soft hues of upscale Delhi and Noida. Light jazz plays over the opening sequence. City streets, too, are movieed with an inviting, unthreatening glow. Yet thrumming through it all is a tale of irremissible violence, a darkness reinforced and not softened by the surface beauty.

This is the story of Vikram (Pavail Gulati) and Amrita (Taapsee Pannu). At a party, the husband slaps his wife. It brings their marriage crumbling down, though almost everyone is convinced it was a one-off, and that Amrita is being unreasonable in leaving Vikram.

★The main thought of the movie and the description of the plots

Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad has a one-point agenda that you can’t slap a woman, and expect her to ignore it, and move on. You can’t.

'Thappad' is not just a movie aimlessly ranting about borderline domestic violence; it brings to light the years of conditioning that a woman is subjected to by her own family and the society that she lives in. Other than the aforementioned couple, there are other women in focus, too.

One who is bearing the brunt of a family's name and legacy, one hung up on the idea that marriage is the ultimate destination, one coming from the poorer section of the society who is compelled to believe that getting thrashed by the husband is the norm, and one who has loved and lost a fine husband and is now struggling to find a replacement who outdoes the former. Sinha manages to intertwine all these stories and juxtaposition them with one another at right junctions, without being too in-your-face about it. The subtly works beautifully, as the stark contrast in their lives unfold.

Thappad’s poster crystallises this attitude in four cleverly chosen words: bas itni si baat? – is that all? Most of the people in Anubhav Sinha’s movies, built around a single slap, feel this way too, not least the perpetrator, Vikram (Pavail Gulati). But his wife, Amrita, at the receiving end of the blow, can’t get past it. Amrita is played by Taapsee Pannu, the trauma and fear perpetually on the actor’s face in Pink replaced here by a great sadness. It is clever symbolic casting, a recognition that the difference between the violence in the two movies is only a matter of degree, that even one slap is too many is a logical extension of “no means no".

Amrita has made peace with this unending routine, but there is a niggling regret for what might have been. She could have been a dancer, professional even, just like her loving father (Mishra) wanted her to be. She has left those dreams behind, just like a dutiful wife and daughter-in-law ought, being content with creating a morning slot of her own–a cup of black tea infused with herbs, and a deep breath at the morning outside– before the day is upon her, with all its demands.

Thappad resonates, as it is meant to. Because the director shows, without mincing any words (sometimes too many, and too explicatory), just how patriarchy is handed down from one generation to another, and how women are equally complicit. After that fateful slap, in full view of family and guests, Amrita responds by self-soothing, and when that doesn’t work, by expecting her own family, including her mother (Shah) and her brother and his girl-friend (Grewal), plus, of course, her father, to be supportive.

No surprise that it is her mother who baulks, and talks about the importance of ‘rishtey nibhana’, and ‘wohi tumhara ghar hai’. After marriage, the ‘maayka’ is no longer the girl’s by right. It is a place where she can visit and stay for a while. A traditional Indian girl in a traditional Indian marriage can never go back home again.

★Conclusion

The movie takes its own sweet time in expressing the dynamics of Amrita-Vikram's arranged marriage and how the two of them manage to blend in well with each other's financially-imbalanced, yet likeable, families. Sure, Vikram loves his wife, but he has made a monster out of his career goals, which the better half supports and harbours with all her heart. Even before the conflict arises, you can see Taapsee make plans of a 'big blue door' at their future London apartment.

Naturally, when the slap happens, her world turns over and even both sides of the family are divided on what is right, what is wrong and how much is too much, and the protocols of marriage in our Indian setting. Irrespective of various views thrown at her, Amrita resolves to channel the inner fighter in her and stands up for what she truly believes in that even one slap is outrageous and not okay.

On the whole, the most effective parts of the movie are the ones in which we are shown just how women are always being told how to feel, how to keep their feelings in check, how not to give into them. It’s not just Amrita who is dealing with ‘sirf ke thappad hi toh tha’, and how Vikram (the husband) who slaps her is ‘only’ taking out his workplace frustration on her. The movie also pays attention to the other women who are in Amrita’s orbit; how her lawyer (Sarao), and her mother, and mother-in-law have dealt with their own disappointments, and how the maid (Ohlyan), who is routinely beaten by her drunken husband, has le arnt to combat it.
