Movie Review - Sorry We Missed You

The feeling after watching this movie –Sorry We Missed You……

Synopsis
"Sorry We Missed You" is a British family drama movie released in 2019, directed by Ken Loach, starring Kris Hitchen, Debbie Honeywood, Rhys Stone, and Katie Proctor. The story was told about after the impact of the finance tsunami, long-unemployed Ricky finally found a job as a logistics driver, but was told that the work was not only self-employed, but also had to bring its own truck to deliver the goods at a specific time.

Under economic pressure, they had to sell their wife’s courtesy car in exchange. And Ricky and Abbie are struggling with their work and have no time to accompany each other and their adolescent children. The deteriorating family relationship also exposes them to major challenges.

The most important is value and change
The director Ken Loach, who has been shortlisted for the Festival de Cannes many times and is known as "British movie conscience", often has a strong "social realism" in his works, whether it is “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”, tells the brothers reflect the impact of the environment on individuals, or “The Angel’s Share” uses a group of society marginalized people to struggle to present the problem of youth unemployment in the UK, or "I, Daniel Blake" criticizes the rigidity of the social welfare system and bureaucratic corruption through a carpenter with heart disease.

These works lock the plot to the little people in the bottom society or the working class, and speak for them with the description of the real society, and this time "Sorry We Missed You" is no exception.
I think Ken Loach set the story stage of "Sorry We Missed You" in Newcastle in the north of Britain is not without reason.

This town which was famous for the shipbuilding and steel industry in the past, faces industrial transformation in recent years. Unlike the rapid pace of economically developed and prosperous metropolises such as Manchester or London. Most people still maintain a relatively traditional conservative and hard-working style.

Although their days seem bland, they retain the closest ones, humanity, with a down-to-earth optimistic life attitude, enjoying the simplest goodness between family and people. However, because of the heavy burden caused by sudden economic pressure, these simple people are gradually crushed.

With the deliver encountering a customer who is not at home and unable to successfully receive, the note attached to the parcel, "Sorry We Missed You" as the movie title. We can see that this movie is another Ken Loach showed his work on labor care.
The heavy pressure in reality
This movie combined with the financial turmoil of 2008 and the era when electronic digital and online shopping have gradually become popular. The labor work because of the financial turmoil bears a huge burden debt.

The father Ricky, who had to support his family caught a life-saving straw and tried to use it to reverse the slump situation. However, after betting on the assets of the whole family, it didn’t expect that because of the rapid evolution of technology and the lack of corresponding legal protections, the unequal relationship between the enterprise and the labor, the only thing that eventually greeted him was that he had to face the risks by himself and not get what he deserved about labor rights, etc.

There is no doubt that because of the extremely successful character shaping and giving the audience a clear sense of the warmth emanating from the camera, this movie became a very heartbreaking movie. The whole movie is centered on the family.

This family of four uses the usual interaction process to bring out the role relationship and strengthen the emotional connection between the family members. So as to compare with the current social situation at the time, even if the laborers worked hard and even sacrificed their families for work, they eventually became more and more poor.

The dilemma of the little figures
Ken Loach is very good at portraying the kind of helpless and real reaction and voice of the characters in the dilemma. "Sorry We Missed You" maintains the overall tone of most of his works full of pain.

Ricky's hard work of returning home late, and the rebellious behavior of his adolescent son, through the conflicts aggravated by the wrong communication methods between the family members, bring out the little figures will always be chased by time, but facing the unknown tomorrow they don't have much time to think about, they can only go one step at a time and be at loss and helpless.
The problem the laborers face
The movie presents the current situation that the profit-oriented enterprises under the market economy of the capital society in order to reduce costs and maximize profit, thus sacrificing the basic rights and interests of the bottom laborers.

What ’s crueler is that this movie set family as the main core when the society can't fully implement the labor-related laws and regulations, and laborers must compete with each other in order to live, the original warm love and care between family members becomes a burden.

So that parents in order to support their families and give their children a better life, this situation has become an accomplice to the further deterioration of the social working environment.

The saddest fact
I hate the feeling of depression in the whole movie. The fear of accidents over the character almost pressured me to suffocate.

Even if there is a daughter in the family who always considers the intimateness of the parents, the son's rebellion still cares about the family. but all covered by the contradictions, helplessness and sadness in the movie.

The sun that breaks through the thick clouds in the distance seems to be just a goal set by this society so that we can continue to work hard, just like the zero-hour economy under the sign of "free" and "flexible" may seem to have a chance to reappear, but it is just the beginning of falling into another abyss, and it can't help but feel completely disappointed in this society.

Conclusion
On the whole, I don't think that the encounters of the characters are because they are particularly embarrassed. On the contrary, I will regard this incident as a microcosm of the bottom society. It is a situation caused by many difficulties and a chain effect. "Sorry, We Missed you" is based on this inevitable that it would always happen in the free market.

Through the encounter of the characters in the movie aroused our attention and sympathy, and stimulated the audience's reflection on real life. At this time, we can do more than just keeping concerned and considerate, and actively supporting the formulation of relevant laws and regulations, in order to get more complete protection of labor rights, but also to think about ways to modify the existing economic model. I think this is what “Sorry We Missed You” wants to show.

Movie Review - I am Mother

The feeling after watching this movie –I am Mother……
           (https://images.app.goo.gl/ncVQzvF8EsrsnsLE8)
Synopsis
"I am Mother" is an Australian science fiction suspense movie, directed by Grant Sputore, starring Hilary Swank, Clara Rugaard, and Rose Byrne. The movie tells that after the world fight, in order to make human reproduce again, a robot named "Mother" successfully cultivated the first new-generation human daughter, and the two lived in a stable life in the base. But one day a wounded mysterious woman suddenly broke into the base, completely subverting their perception of the outside world over the years.

Human can be better
Science fiction has always been my personal favorite movie type. In addition to relying on visual effects and dramatic plots to satisfy unknown imaginations, the core of the story and the creative background are mostly of profound significance and connotation.

It can be seen that although the mother asked the daughter who to choose the side and judge whether she should believe in robots or outsiders, and become the storyline that humans hope for the last time, but if you think carefully about the story, you can find the theme of the movie far deeper than we can see on the surface, in this movie we explore the fundamental values of morality, humanity, and life through the daughter's choices.

Unknown world
When watching this movie, many bridge sections made me think of another sci-fi thriller movie "10 Cloverfield Lane" with an underground bunker. One of the main characters lived in the facility from an early age. The other was unconscious in a car accident at the time of the disaster and couldn’t get in touch with the outside world. He only learned the truth about the world by speaking unilaterally.

What's interesting about this type of movie is that in the case of limited information, the audience no longer watches the entire event from the perspective of God, but stands on the same footing as the character, and finds out the hidden secrets behind the scenes as the plot progresses.

Although "I am Mother" has amazing special effects technology, the movie format is actually very small. There are few big scenes that we generally think of science fiction movies. It simply focuses on the performance of the daughter facing the problem and slowly throws out the conflict and contradiction between the words of "mother" and "woman" let the audience choose the things we want to believe from the message provided by the movie with the daughter.

In some extent, "I am Mother" is a bit like the concept of dystopian movies. People's minds have been restrained from an early age. They mistakenly believe that they live in a perfect environment and then the more they dig, the more truth they find is scary. But that means real really?
The choice dilemma of moral
Just like dystopian movies have always been very serious but most of the works only describe the characters who want to break through the status quo, and almost never have thought deeply and explored the question: "What if this system is really necessary for humans?" This movie focuses on this point and ponders deeply.

It cooperates with the unknown outside situation to deepen the contradictions in the character's heart. Through the various reactions and behaviors of the character, it gives the audience space for reflection and thinking, and leads to the movie core theme about humanity.

As in the first half of the movie, a train question was raised as an examination, should this person be rescued? What else to do, sacrificing his life to save the other five? Maybe we all have our own answer, but once we add other assumptions, such as one of us is a family member or friend, we may end up with very different choices.

This movie puts this deep philosophical issue into the movie in order to highlight the selfishness and selflessness of human beings, and turn the whole story into a test to judge "fit" or "not fit".

The Mother
In the end, the lessons include the concepts taught usually, the first contact with small animals, even the intrusion of outsiders, the confrontation between the human and the robot, and the yearning and identification of similar people.

All of these were arranged by Mother as the original title "I Am Mother", allows her daughter to learn step by step how to be a mother and take on the mission of regenerating and thriving for human beings. To help unite the group's centripetal force to help each other, even in troubled times, it can show the central idea of human warmth.
Acquired teaching and learning
Interestingly, the daughter No. 1 was put into the outside world by her mother at an early age, forming a real human character that distrusts people and places her own emphasis on everything. Daughter No. 2 didn’t reach the standard and was destroyed during childhood. Daughter No.3 finally met the standard because of "mother learning" and successfully lived to grow up.

This shows that the development of human character has an absolute relationship with the background of growth and education. Now, in which direction should we work hard after socialization? It is a question that what kind of ideas is appropriate to give the next generation. Although there is no absolute answer, I think it is supposed be considered.

Conclusion
On the whole, "I am Mother" starts from the biggest difference between humans and machines, that is, everyone's free thinking, individual differences and imperfections, let the original trust extend the reversal into the discussion of human nature.

The movie didn’t give a standard answer at the end. Instead, it gave the audience a lot of space for thinking. Is life equal or different? Can we take the lives of a few to save the majority? These unsolvable puzzles are the movie which is the most attractive place.

Holi in India 2020

Holi in India 2020
                                        (https://images.app.goo.gl/8BmDBk3E4H1saLXG7)

Holi is considered as one of the most revered and celebrated festivals of India and it is celebrated in almost every part of the country. It is also sometimes called as the “festival of love” as on this day people get to unite together forgetting all resentments and all types of bad feeling towards each other.

The great Indian festival lasts for a day and a night, which starts in the evening of Purnima or the Full Moon Day in the month of Falgun. It is celebrated with the name Holika Dahan or Choti Holi on first evening of the festival and the following day is called Holi. In different parts of the country it is known with different names.

The vibrancy of colors is something that brings in a lot of positivity in our lives and Holi being the festival of colours is actually a day worth rejoicing. Holi is a famous Hindu festival that is celebrated in every part of India with utmost joy and enthusiasm.

The ritual starts by lighting up the bonfire one day before the day of Holi and this process symbolizes the triumph of good over the bad. On the day of Holi people play with colours with their friends and families and in evening they show love and respect to their close ones with Abeer.

The best places to celebrate Holi in India really depend on what kind of experience you want to have. The followings are ten places recommended for you.

1. Anandpur Sahib, Punjab: Warrior Holi / March 10-12, 2020.
Experience Holi the Sikh way at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab! Hola Mohalla is an annual fair that dates all the way back to 1701. It was first organized by Sikh Guru Gobind Singh to celebrate Holi. However, instead of throwing colors, expect to see a demonstration of physical agility. There's wrestling, martial arts, mock sword fights, acrobatic military exercises, and turban tying.

2. Mathura and Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh: Traditional Holi / March 6-10, 2020
                                          (https://images.app.goo.gl/k5LYqHox56Rp6qWw8)
Uttar Pradesh celebrates Holi a little extravagantly than the rest of the India. The Braj region in India, the cities of Uttar Pradesh, mostly in Mathura and Vrindavan make the festivities all the more special. According to some legends, it is celebrated as a divine connection of love between Lord Krishna and Radha. Therefore, people re-enact the fun-play of these divine lovers.
Apart from play of colors, exchange of sweets and other fun, there are also unique rituals followed only in Uttar Pradesh. Barsana celebrates the festival with a unique ritual of lath-maar practice where women hit men with sticks for fun. People indulge in play of colors, dry and water. Sweets, music, dance and fun make the festival even more special for all to have fun with friends and families.

3. Mumbai: Community Holi with Slum Children / March 7, 2020
                                          (https://images.app.goo.gl/wobu6xn14PCV5Mmr9)
Dharavi, Mumbai's largest slum, is not the depressing place that you may expect it to be and especially so on Holi. Reality Tours and Travel will take you on a fascinating (and uplifting) tour of the slum, and then to a Holi party that they will be throwing for the community at Dharavi. Join in and celebrate Holi with the locals in a safe and friendly environment, complete with colors and music. The cost is 1,400 rupees per person. 80% of proceeds are devoted to helping the people of Dharavi.

4. Jaipur, Rajasthan: Holi and Elephants / March 10, 2020
                                                                                  (https://images.app.goo.gl/WoJ7fzKaLCScKr6A6)
Rajasthan, like the rest of India, dips in the celebration of Holi by welcoming the spring season. Call it the festival of love or colors the state knows how to mix ritual and other ancient traditions with a final touch of royalty. What's even unique is the way different parts of the state giving the festivities their own different vibe. While Mali and Gair Holi are distinct to Ajmer, Brij Holi to Bharatpur, Bikaner rejoices the colorful time of the year by playing Dolchi Holi.

5. Purulia, West Bengal: Folk Holi / March 8-10, 2020
                                                                               (https://images.app.goo.gl/AC1AmeZWaVnw8kvi7)
A three-day Basanta Utsav folk festival takes place in West Bengal, at Nimdih in the Purulia district and Tepantar in Birbhum district. It runs in the lead up to Holi and on the actual day. You'll get to sing and play Holi with the locals, as well as enjoy a wide variety of unique folk art. This includes the remarkable Chau dance, Darbari Jhumur, Natua dance, and songs of West Bengal's wandering Baul musicians. What makes the festival special is that it's organized by villagers as a way of helping sustain themselves. The location is around five to six hours by train from Kolkata, or transport in private vehicles can be arranged. Accommodation is provided in cottages and tents, and there are portable toilets as well.

6. Barsana, Uttar Pradesh: Holi with Sticks / March 3-5, 2020
                                                                                (https://images.app.goo.gl/Wy32eiCAmvZRwzyk7)
Holi celebrations in Barsana are among the most unique festivities in India. In the spirit of fun, smearing of colors, drenching in water and mock fights. According to legends, Barsana was the birthplace of Radha, the consort of Lord Krishna. As the fables narrate, the lord used to come from his home-town Nandgaon to tease Radha and the Gopis.
The tradition continues till date. Men from Nandgaon come to Barsana to play and the women greet them with sticks (lathis). The unique spectacle is known as Lathmaar holi. The abundance of sweets, bhang and the festive spirit enhance the thrill.

7. Delhi: Musical Holi / March 10, 2020
                                                                               (https://images.app.goo.gl/cmCdcPpz5DPGYddRA)
Holi tends to be a rowdy affair in Delhi. If you're staying anywhere near Paharganj, be prepared to be covered in color by shopkeepers and children alike if you step outside. If you can, try and get tickets to the Holi Moo Festival (previously the renowned Holi Cow Festival). This festival of color, moozik and madness has more than 40 Indian and international performers spread over four stages. The environment is safe, and non-toxic colors are provided, along with bhang lassi, street food, and sprinklers to get everyone in the mood. Plenty of expats, as well as locals, attend.

8. Shantiniketan, West Bengal: Cultural Holi / March 9, 2020
                                                                                  (https://images.app.goo.gl/BuzsXrGm9nesJ6W28)
Drenched in the mesmeric charms of spring, Holi in Santiniketan is a celebration of love, fun and art. The onset of the season of spring calls for the occasion of the Basant Utsav. The loving abode of Rabindranath Tagore, Shantiniketan is seen transformed in festive mood as he had started the ritual years back. The very ambiance is of fun and the oncoming delights of the spring.
Colorful traditional attire, play of dry colors, dance, music, sweets and more create wonderful joy. The occasion is made special with the tunes of Baul singers and their melodies hums of 'Ektara'-the musical instruments

9. Udaipur, Rajasthan: Royal Holi / March 9, 2020
                                                                              (https://images.app.goo.gl/DCwqAVnoUWgLiDck7)
On the eve of Holi people light bonfires to mark the occasion and ward of evil spirits in a ritual called holika dahan. For an unforgettable regal experience, join in the celebration of Udaipur's Mewar royal family. There will be a magnificent palace procession from the royal residence to Manek Chowk at the City Palace, including bedecked horses and royal band. Later the traditional sacred fire will be lit and an effigy of Holika burnt.

10. Hampi, Karnataka: Holi in South India / March 10, 2020
                                                                               (https://images.app.goo.gl/gMiV8YVUvS16skSN8)
If you're looking for an exuberant Holi, South India is generally best avoided. As Holi is primarily a North Indian festival, it's quite subdued at most places in the south. The focus is mainly on religious aspects and temple rites. However, Hampi in Karnataka is a notable exception! The whole town turns out to play Holi in the morning (perhaps for the benefit of the many western travelers there), amid drumming, dancing, and the evocative ruins of the grand Vijayanagar empire. Afterwards, the crowd slowly moves to the river to wash all the color off.

Movie Review - Yesterday

The feeling after watching this movie –Yesterday……
                                             (https://images.app.goo.gl/EP5bjq29w5Nbo6fV7)

"Yesterday" is a British romantic comedy movie directed by Danny Boyle, starring Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, and Ed Sheeran. The plot tells the story of an ordinary British man Jack in a car accident during a global power outage, and he woke up and found that the whole world has forgotten the Beatles, so he sang the classic Beatles, but he didn’t think that this behavior made him a tomorrow star.

The world was tragic without the Beatles
In the recent two musical movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Rocket Man", they have described the musical careers of the two legendary singers. After that, in less than a month, the fans could watch the "Yesterday" with "The Beatles" as the core axis. Although this time it is no longer a biographical form, and there is almost no introduction to the members, in another surprising way, the Beatles are still praised from the four sides and known as the greatness of the classics.

Our dream
It is a very interesting movie. The whole movie has the usual style of screenwriter, Richard Curtis, combining the romantic comedy of the previous "Bridget Jones’s Diary" and the fantasy elements of "About Time". The blackout caused many things we are familiar with in the past to disappear into the world.

At the same time, it also locked the story of a frustrated and unknown singer who was not affected by the accident. After singing the Beatles and becoming famous, he tangled between the external reputation and inner contradiction inside.

This movie combines music, love, and comedy genres, apparently starting from the Beatles, but in fact tells a story about dreams through their songs, which not only gives the movie a unique flavor, but also has entertaining and profound story content. This movie has excellent character shaping.

Although it is promoted with a relaxed and humorous tone, the director bloodily presents a little-known singer who made a lot of efforts with blood and tears instead of corresponding returns before becoming famous.

Fun themes
However, in more than half of the movie plots have been released in the preview and introduction, the most important and most curious of the movie is how to solve this problem in the end and whether will the love blossom.

Does anyone in this movie remember the Beatles that they will reveal Jack's secret? Is there a way for Jack to bring the world back? What stage will Jack's star journey reach? I think this is the main reason why we will enter the theater to watch movies except for pilgrimaging Beatles.

But what surprised me the most was that although the movie didn’t describe the inner emotions of the characters enough, the director still produced a content that was satisfying. Many hilarious and interesting bridges, coupled with the brisk atmosphere and rhythm of the whole movie, make it like the less heavy "La La Land ".

The core of the story also tells the dilemma of dreams and love struggling, maybe in contrast, "Yesterday" is a bit simple and taken for granted, but the personal charm of the heroine Lily James and the spark of the interaction between the two still add a lot of visibility to the movie.

John Lennon’s survival
Personally, I really like the ending of the plot. In 1980, John Lennon, who was only 40 years old at the time, was killed by avid fans outside his home, which became the biggest pain in all fans.

However, the Beatles, which didn’t exist in the movie, the director gave us the biggest gift was the 78-year-old John Lennon who appeared as a mentor, but in this world he is no longer a superstar, but an ordinary man who lived with his wife at the seaside to enjoy his old age; he also taught Jack what we should pursue and cherish the most in our lives.

The process of pursuing dreams
Even with so many songs inserted in the movie, "Yesterday" has not deviated from the theme of the story at all. The movie is about missing love, the mood of creators and dream chasers along the way, but unlike other inspirational movies which always encourage people to work hard no matter what difficulties they encounter through many examples.

This movie reminds Jack and all dream chaser of a very important thing by comparing Jack and John Lennon: "After we do our best, it doesn’t matter that the result is failure".

Conclusion
On the whole, the actor Himesh Patel from TV series and short films, this time the first performance of the movie "Yesterday", there is almost no problem of incompatibility, perhaps the comedic component in the movie slightly lowers the movie's dependence on actors.

But there is no doubt that his singing strength did a successful interpretation of several classic songs of "The Beatles" such as "Yesterday" and "Back In The USSR", but he also has a new style of his own, and he clearly make the audience feel the importance and love for the Beatles.

Strictly speaking, I ’m not a Beatles fan, I ’m just an audience who likes music, so I may not be able to get 100% of the impression from “Yesterday”, but it is like what the movie says "The world without Beatles is extremely miserable."

Their songs have influenced the entire music circle and popular culture. I believe that if you understand Beatles and the process and motivation of their creation, you can definitely get more resonance from it.
