★Synopsis
The
movie tells an Indian wrestling champion Mahavir, because of the national
system and living pressure, was not able to win India's medal in international
competitions. He had to pin his dreams on his own children, but unexpectedly
made a mess and gave birth to four daughters. It made him have to give up the
wrestling dream.
However, by chance, he discovered the wrestling blood in the
bodies of the two daughters Geeta and Babita, so he began to train them
rigorously and headed for the gold medal of wrestling.
The
actor in this movie is played by Aamir Khan, whose well-known works include
"3 Idiots" and "PK". We watch him change from a genius student
to an alien and then this time, to a strict father, the abdomen has changed
from abdominal muscles to beer belly, but the only thing that remains unchanged
is his concern for society as a filmmaker.
The first two films discuss
education, wealth, and religion in India. "Dangal" is no exception to
criticize the severe gender inequality in India and the corruption of public
institutions in all countries.
★Gender
issues
Regarding
gender issues, everyone should know that under India ’s patriarchal system,
women are relatively weak in any way. From the beginning, neighbors teased four
girls in a row, and villagers ridiculed when girls participated in wrestling
matches.
All we can see the social situation at that time. In the movie,
Geeta's classmates were forced to marry an old man who had never met at the age
of 14. Geeta and Babita also complained to her because of being forced by
Mahavir's high-pressure training.
After comparison, it was discovered that
behind the strict training of their father, they could give them a hope of
going out of inequality and moving towards their own free future.

★Home is always here
Wrestling
is definitely the focus of the movie. I really admire the wrestling pictures
that Aamir Khan and the actors personally took. The most exciting match is the
three games of Geeta. Although the results are generally known, the audience
will still keep an eye on these. The tension coupled with the passionate soundtrack,
the dramatic tension of the whole movie made me too attentive to forget to
breathe.
The
movie takes a bit of space to describe the growth of Geeta and Babita. The
director uses a lot of montages to quickly take the training bridge, so that
the audience can clearly feel how fast they have progressed. In the process, we
also saw Mahavir sternly training his daughter during the day, bur rubbing her
legs while they were asleep at night, and silently recorded the father's love.
The
contradiction of the new and old system is also discussed in the movie. When Geeta
received training from the national institute of physical education, she
gradually agreed with the new training method, and questioned the old
hard-edged education of her father. The collision between new and old gives the
movie an extra angle. But "Dangal" is clearly not the focus here, but
the concept of "If you fail outside, your home is always your safe
haven."
★Conclusion
What
surprised me the most was probably the end. There was no Mahavir assist that
most of the audience expected, on the contrary, it was very unusual to be
absent. I think this means that the daughter has finally grown up. She is no
longer just Mahavir's daughter, but She was truly an independent woman.
On
the whole, "Dangal" is definitely a wonderful wrestling movie.
Although it contains an unreasonable critique to the society, it has also been
given a lively and dilute plot due to its proper handling and touching
affection. The length of 161 minutes will not make the audience impatient, you
will laugh, be moving or angry, and even be proud of them.
